Canolich is areligious holiday but it didn't seem so religious to me. We hiked up the mountain, young and old, to a little church. They had a service but most of the people were just wainting for the bread. I took one loaf and felt strange, everyone else took as much as they could fit into their bags. I guess I need to stop worrying about others and be more like them, I don't know. We then had a little picnic before going back down the mountain. It was a good experience and I got to take part in their culture!

Ok ok I'll keep blogging. Tomorrow I will get some new pictures up of this past weekend I promise!

Carassonne

Ok so Carcassonne is a beautiful medieval walled city in the south of France. I loved it! The stained glass windows of the catherdral

We did get a little lost on our way back to Andorra but we saw a lot of beautiful country.

Toulouse France and a few places in between

Toulouse is a very nice place, my favorite part was walking along the river. It was so beautiful! I rented a car with 3 girls, One other fulbright a lectorer from Wales and the French Prof. from the North of France. It was a lot of Fun. Now I didn't get pulled over. We were actually at a stoplight and the police back up next to us and asked if I knew how to drive my car. We had been trying to figure out the wiperblades and had turn on the fog lights, so I was using them instead of the headlights. It was funny. The policeman actually reached in the car and switched them on for me. They were really nice, even when we found out the driver side headlight didn't work. We then stayed at an estate, It was amazing, for less than $20 a piece and it was by far as good as a 5 star hotel. Wow, I think it used to be a vineyard estate with about 5 different buildings or something but it was very nice. I will post Carcassonne later. Enjoy Toulouse! Greece

Greece was fun, I really enjoyed my time there. The Island I must say was my favorite. I loved it and have decided it would be a dream come true to live on a little Island with few people. An Island that has a mountain and then I can watch the sun go down over the ocean every night. It would be year round summer and would rain 2-3 times a week but always after 6 p.m. The ruins were amazing and I am grateful I have been fortunate enough to see both Rome and Athens nowChillin at the airport for 5 hoursI found Cinnamon gum!If you are ever in Athens this is the bus to take for sightseeing, cheap and good and you have a 24 hour pass on all public transportation

I went looking for the other temple that was on the map of the Island, I never found it

Wow, it was a beautiful view around the coastline of the Island and it was a very big Island

I couldn't find the temple or my way back and there was no chance of making it all the way around the island. After 4 hours with no water or sunblock and nothing but abandonded buildings I was ready to drop.

Another hour later I found water and learned I had another hour walk to make it back to the harbour!



Greek Gods

I decided to have a little contest to find a Greek God!

Berlin....

Ok, I decided to start with the fun side of Berlin... The famous chocolate store with chocolate buildings in the windows, the white trash resturant and it was the guys who had to cover their heads to enter the Jewish cemetary.

These are the cute people who populate Berlin!

That store was huge and had so much stuff, I was in hunger heaven, the Vietnamese food was so good, and the farewell party.

I couldn't read it but I liked it, waiting for the 3rd train because the first 2 were running late, and me and one of many famous bears hanging around Berlin.

Berlin has a very tragic past, and there are a lot of memorials. In the first picture is what remains of the wall. This year marked 20 years since it fell. The second is from the Jewish museum, which was a hard place to visit, I was actually ill just from what I saw. It wasn't just the jews who suffered but the mental ill, and those with diseases. There was a picture of one of the first victums of the killings, a little boy about 2 years old. The 3rd is of the holocuast memorial a very interesting momument with no exact meaning or explanation. 4th is a empty libary underground with no door, only a glass top, in remembrance of all the books the nazis burned in the same location. The last is a statue of a lady holding her dead son. We stayed and spent most of our time in East Berlin. Even 20 years later the difference of wealth is still evident but not as much as before. There are also buildings with signs of the war still. I am so glad I had the opportunity to go. Actually I am glad I have been able to do all this traveling, I have learned so much both the good and the bad. It is an experience I will never forget...
